Biodegradable Plastic
Edible Seaweed Packaging
Indonesian researchers Dr. Noryawati Mulyno and David Christian developed the Edible Seaweed Packaging made from seaweed. In their homeland, 90% of plastic waste is disposed of in the ocean and at the same time it has a large supply of algae. To produce a plastic-free alternative from the marine plants, they founded the company Evoware. The biodegradable material contains many minerals and vitamins and also has a shelf life of up to 2 years. Due to its food-safe nature, Edible Seaweed Packaging can be used as packaging for spices, sugar, coffee, toothpicks, napkins or food. If the film comes into contact with water, it dissolves without leaving any residue. Depending on your preference, it can be printed and customized with a special flavor.
