Mono-Material Butter and Spread Tubs

Recyclable Paper Butter Tubs

In it’s commitment to reduce their plastic waste the plant-based butter and spreads company, Upfield designed and produced a recyclable and plastic free tub entirely made out of paper. In collaboration with Footprint, MCC and Pagès Group, and Esmur, Upfield’s tubs are made of compressed wet paper fibres that are water and oil proof. The paper is sourced from PEFC certified suppliers and uses in mold labelling, resulting in the label and packaging to be made of the same material. No glue is used in the process allowing the packaging to be recycled in local paper streams. The paper-based packaging is expected to also be used in Upfield’s Rama and Blueband brands.
