Origin Materials‘ partnership with Husky Technologies has added to their portfolio mono-material PET closures, which are compatible with the PCO 1881 neck finish, and can be manufactured using commercial-scale equipment. Origin Materials claim their PET caps can be produced with any PET plastic, whether virgin, recycled (rPET), or biobased.

According to the company, the cap locks into place using the threads of the PET bottle, angling it away from the bottle mouth to enhance usability. To avoid the need for recycling centers to separate the caps made of HDPE or polypropylene from PET bottles. The integrated approach allows both PET bottles and the PET caps to be recycled together seamlessly.
